A Prayer for Contentment by Marsha Maurer
How happy the birds are with their plain, small birdhouse! They need none of the fine adornments I seem to think a home requires. How many trappings I need, how much accumulation of possessions. Satisfy me simply, God. Make me less acquisitive. Let me know the pleasures of modest living. Remind me that my stuck windows, unpaind bills, and stubborn children mean light to shine, blessing to enjoy, family to love. I thank you for my home. Make Your perch on my heart, God, and fill me with a song of contentment. Amen.
"Be content with what you have." Hebrew 13:5
